PAYMENT IS THE PATIENT'S RESPONSIBILITY
We accept cash, money orders, and credit / debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express). We do not accept checks.
We do not accept health insurance as payment for your care. Why? There are several reasons:
- KEEPING COSTS FAIR & CONSISTENT: All third-party insurance companies expect a discount in order for us to be a provider. Since we try to keep the cost of our services reasonable for all of our patients, this would mean that we would have to charge our non-insured patients more for their procedure.
- LACK OF PUBLIC COVERAGE: Most health insurance in Central Ohio does not cover abortion. For example, all government insurance programs are prohibited from covering abortion services. If you work for the Federal Government or the State of Ohio, or you are on Medicaid or Medicare, your procedure will not be covered.
- PATIENT PRIVACY: Most patients want to keep their decision to have an abortion private. If we have a contract with your insurance company, that contract requires us to submit a claim for all services we provide you, whether or not they cover the service. Once your paperwork is submitted to a third party, we have no control over who knows your private business or how they may use this information.
INSURANCE REIMBURSEMENT: If you want to try to recover some or all of your expense from a third-party, we can provide a receipt for you to submit to your health insurance company for reimbursement (upon request), but we will not fill out your insurance claim form.
In an effort to ensure all women have access to full reproductive care (regardless of income level), FWHC works with several 3rd party pro-choice organizations and funds that feel a civic and moral responsibility to help women in extreme need.
To find out if you qualify for funding assistance, please ask a patient advocate during your initial consultation. If your situation meets the necessary criteria, we will help you apply for financial assistance.
